Where Your Money Goes -- Where You Want It To Go! General contributions will go towards all the activities of the organization. If you wish to support a specific activity of the organization, you may make a note with your contribution, making it a designated contribution for the area of your choice. The Web Site -- It takes close to thirty hours a month to maintain and make routine developments to the website, www.artistsofutah.org, keeping all of our services available to the public, local national and international. These listings serve all the members of the visual arts community, whether they be art lovers, artists or art professionals. 15 BYTES: For many, our online magazine, 15 BYTES, is the most important aspect of our organization. Writers for the ezine are volunteers and are not paid. We do, however, have the costs of editing the magazine, laying it out, coding it and uploading it as well as management of the announcements and advertising. Art Outreach: Our organization is also very active in trying to unite the various aspects of the visual arts community in Utah. This includes presenting workshops, facilitating interaction between various groups, working as a conduit for information. Exhibitions: When suitable, Artists of Utah is eager to facilitate exhibitions in Utah's visual arts community, especially exhibitions that achieve our goal of creating, developing and strengthening relationships within the visual arts community. With the help of Artspace Forum and the Salt Lake Arts Council we put on 35 x 35. For more information. Development of the Site: We are also striving to get funds to increase the capacities of our site. Our future plans for the site include: Expanded Artist Directory, including listings by category. Monthly Regional Calendar with day-to-day information on visual arts events. Interactive Announcements page allowing members the ability to list their own announcements, including exhibitions, equipment swap, etc. |

Shoot Your Artwork: As always our organization encourages artists to use the internet as a source for displaying their work. To accomplish this, we are once again establishing times for contributing members of Artists of Utah to have their art work digitally photographed. Professional photographer Steve Coray will photograph your artwork in large digital format and email or burn you a cd of your works. For your $30 contribution Steve will photograph five pieces, three of which Artists of Utah will post with your artist listing (we will refresh images for artist's who already have a listing.) Artists can also make arrangements with Steve to photograph additional artwork at the same time. For more information contact Steve Coray at scoray@corayphoto.com Salt Lake City: Saturday May 17th, 2 to 5 pm at Chroma Gallery, 1064 East 2100 South. Ogden: ARTSTOP:OGDEN at the corner of 25th Street and Washington. Ave. May 28th, 5 to 8 pm. |
Learn To Build Your Own Website: Artists of Utah offers a variety of sources for artists looking to create an artist website to display their work online. Many artists want to learn to build their own websites, thus allowing them to update their sites frequently. Artists of Utah web manager Shawn Rossiter will be holding workshops on how to build your own site in HTML. Shawn will instruct artists on how to use Netscape Composer, a free, downloadable program, to create artist websites. Workshops will be limited to 5 people per session, for an hour and half session. The workshops will be free to those who contribute $30 or more to Artists of Utah during the Spring fundraiser. Location: Artists of Utah offices at Chroma Gallery, 1064 East 2100 South, Salt Lake City 485-6020. Times: Saturday May 17th, 11 - 12:30, 12:30 - 2:00 To register: email artistsofutah@yahoo.com |
