Downy Doxey: Fabric of Memory is a series of stunning mixed media creations. Doxey’s work incorporates fabrics, paints, inks, and found objects to create works that present the everyday patterns of life to the viewer. To create her art, Doxey combines traditional embroidery techniques with pigmented ink transfer on linen to create a series of unique mixed media works. ȁThreads and fabrics are familiar, setting the stage for deeper connections to memory, a feeling of “being right at home,” explains Doxey. This show mark Doxey’s second appearance at the Kimball Art Center since 2004. Her work was included in the 2004 Utah Arts Council Statewide Annnual Competition, where she was the recipient of the prestigious juror’s award.

This exhbit features a series of acrylic and mixed media paintings depicting nudes and faces. Dunaway has always turned to people for inspiration. “I am an avid people watcher,” Dunaway explains. “People and expressions intrigue me. People express so much without words, often without knowing. This show presents wordless expressions, some expressions through the face and some through body language.” Dunaway’s goal in her work is to evoke similar expressions from the viewer of each piece. Dunaway was born and raised in Marietta, GA. She moved to Park City in November of 2003, and currently splits her time between Park City and Marietta.

His interest in the landscapes of Utah shows in his paintings. He is rarely without his sketchbook and camera. He likes painting plein air, an opportunity he is more able to enjoy since his retirement from teaching. First Friday Opening Night, June 3rd, is in conjunction with the Historic 25th Street Art Stroll. Hours: Fridays, 5:00-9:00 pm; Saturdays, noon-8:00 pm; Wednesdays and Thursdays, 5:00-8:00 pm. The exhibit will continue through Saturday, June 17th. Private appointments can be made by calling 458-8959.

Jennings work includes waterscapes, landscapes, portraits and still lifes. Most of his work approaches photo realism and reflect the color of the local and regional landscape. However, he has recently completed a number of abstracts in a very different color palette. Jennings says, “I’m known for my tight finish work on my landscapes, with details knuckled out to the grass stems. I’ve really enjoyed being more animated and extravagant. It is a pleasant change to work back and forth between the two styles.”

LeRoy was born in Ogden and has been painting for more than 50 years. He says, “I’ve spent a lifetime learning how to paint light as it plays on our mountains, on the surface and bottom of a stream, on a person’s face or objects on a table. Painting has been a very good way for me to closely examine beauty and portray it with my art.”
