WHAT YOU'RE PAYING FOR:
You are paying for the development of forums that allow full and open expression to Utah's visual arts community. The money raised during our semi-annual fundraisers goes towards the production and development of 15 Bytes and the Artists of Utah website. Every month, over 60 hours are devoted to the editing, layout and marketing of 15 Bytes. In addition, we are continually adding new features to the ezine. Over the past six months, we have added video content to our pages; developed Extra! Extra! our 15 Bytes blog which provides weekly content to enhance our monthly 15 Bytes coverage; grown our edition size by 20%; and beginning in May 2007, we will launch our new design, with larger images, more space for articles and a cleaner look.
Your contributions also help to pay our extremely low overhead costs (our isp and hosting providers, incidental office supplies, travel expenses for our writers).
WHAT YOU'RE NOT PAYING FOR:
You are not paying our writers. Over twenty writers and photographers contributed content to 15 Bytes last year, not because they are getting paid, but because they care about the visual arts in Utah.
Like all tax-exempt non-profits, Artists of Utah does not pay its board of directors. In addition to the time devoted by the organization's board, there are many volunteers and staff members who do not currently receive financial compensation for their efforts including: Shawn Rossiter in his capacity as Executive Director, Laura Durham, Assistant Editor of 15 Bytes, our grant writer, Liz Matthews, Financial Director, Nance Thunell and Terrece Beesley for editorial assistance.
